I do not think you are talking about all Muslims.

We're reaping what we've sown - good and bad.
I think some souls don't want their loved ones to remember Christmas (or any special occasion really) as a sad time that they passed so they hold on a bit until it's over. Especially if they have young children.
The other side is someone does die during the holiday season and it makes it more poignant every year and you feel blessed to have had them as long as you did.
