I just knew too many people I did not want to and thought it would be a hook to having to spend time writing them notes.
I always looked at FB as a time consuming thing and a privacy thing. I don't want some book with my face in about my life for the public.

From what I have observed, Facebook was the place to go when you wanted to connect with old friends & classmates to commit adultery with.
Now, Facebook is the place to go to volunteer information to be used by governments and corporations.
You also go to Facebook to view targeted ads and to like business Facebook pages to enter contests and such.
