I know a little bit about it. Because they operate this as a policy in Australia. And have done so for a very long time. People who don’t meet the criteria don’t get in. Asylum seekers are treated far differently. And people who entered illegally are jailed. Offshore. Till we find out who they are. As the people who smuggle them from south-east Asia/Indonesia force them to throw away their passports.
Britain uses this Points system. And so does Canada I believe. But how is this Points system goin to serve the U.S. When the majority of people who need to come to the U.S is because of gang violence and economic volatility in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador?
Well it’s not. The points system is for the more fortunate type of applicants.
At the moment illegal immigrants have to prove to the U.S they have ‘credible fear’ of recruitment into an armed gang. That focus on the at risk poor.
I feel bad for the people fleeing gang violence. This entire situation sucks and I pray God gives us the answer because we already have the power to make things right.
