2. Why does a person need a 4 year degree to learn to operate a camera? Ain't like people use film anymore.
3. Parson's sucks. Kid should have went to FIT New York or Rhode Island School of Design. The creme de la creme go to RISD.
Parsons used to be good. They are now on the British model of education. That does not work well here in America. I am told that with the British model the students are self-taught at high school and university level. With the American system we have teachers. Online students and certain courses, yes, we are mostly self taught.
Imagine having no prior experience and paying over $48,000 per year to teach yourself about fabrics, how to sew, how to draw, how to paint, etc. That $48,000 does not include books, supplies, transportation, housing, food, and medical insurance. Talk about scam.
FIT NY is about one-fourth the cost for commuters and includes housing and other things.
If you don't have financial aid or if you don't come from an extremely wealthy family then forget about RISD. Undergraduate tuition is $49,000. If you include housing and such then undergraduate is almost $71,000 for the year, graduate over $76,000.
FIT NY, RISD, and SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) are considered the top schools. America has thousands of good schools. If you want a degree in toy design, FIT NY is the place to go. Otis is the only other school that offers that degree but you are better off in NY.

I never went, am going by second hand information claiming the school went downhill after it switched to the British model of education. Too many stories about this so in my mind where there is smoke there is fire.
