Sometimes i think. When the UK stops having Prime Ministers who all went to Eton college. Then maybe they will develop a different society.
A better one.

Its the same shit almost every decade.
People who are educated in the beleif at Eaton that they are born to rule. Over the English.
Yeah i know. Boris Johnson was born in New York. To Rich as F..ck parents.
But at the end of the day he's just another Eton Rifle. Cause thats where he was ultimately educated.
Hes not gonna bring anything new. Or change the divided class system in the UK.
For those who dont know Eton Rifles is a song by English Band, The Jam. Who were rather political.
So when Boris Johnson becomes the next British Prime mininster,
The UK asshole elite class and aristocrats can all sing together,

'Hello Hurrah what a nice day for the Eton Rifles'.

While some families there cant even afford to pay rent on a tiny flat. And electricity to warm their children.

Hi Christian
I just read about Craig Hamilton-Parker. He agrees with you on Boris
and a General Election but then predicts that Nigel Farage will become
a member of the Conservative Party? Is this true? Can you please tell us please if
you see this happening, Thank you x

Dear Britain,

Please do not elect this slob. Isn't there a normal person who is willing and able to be Prime Miniser?

This is playing out nearly identically to the last Brexit, namely the departure of 26 Irish counties to form the Republic of Ireland.

He reminds me of Eamon de Valera, cunning, beguiling and highly intelligent he undermined Collins (hello Mrs May!) attempts to reach a treaty with the UK, refused to recognise Ireland's divorce debts to the UK (hello GBP70 billion EU divorce payment), he sold Ireland a retreat to an imaginary past with an image of comely maidens dancing at the cross roads, speaking gealige, all under the benign support of the RC Church.

What actually actually happened was the skilled Protestant community emigrated (aka Skilled EU migrants), Ford Motors focused on the UK for European growth (not Ireland where Henry Ford was from...and isn't a coincidence Ford are closing in Bridgend), and the Irish whiskey industry effectively disappeared and Irish farmers joked they would have to put horse shoes on the cattle as they took them from market to market looking for imaginary buyers. On the continent, no one really paid any attention, they had Germany (aka Russia 2019) on their minds.

So De Valera thought a really bright idea would be to have a trade war with the UK....that would show they we can't be pushed around we're too indispensable to the UK (you know...demand for BMW's, Prosecco and all that that Mr Johnson believes is the UK's trump card!!!)....But the UK had Wallis Simpson on their mind and didn't even notice....they figured the Irish we always that poor...and they were right by 1939 Ireland had a lower GDP per capita than Albania....that's how Brexit version 1 played out.

In 1955 De Valera was no longer PM and Ireland and East Germany were Europe's basket cases...failing economies and and outflow of immigrants, something had to change. East Germany put up a wall and doesn't exist (are you listening Mr Trump?), Ireland pulled them down and embraced modernity. In 1956 promptly offered fleeing Hungarians asylum, all of whom would go onto the US but one would start Intel, the company that triggered Ireland tech revolution which has continued since 1990 and in two years time Ireland's GDP per capita should pass Switzerland's. That's what happens when you pull down walls.

Ireland would pay it's divorce debt to the UK in 1965 at a fraction of the debt as it was now so poor to do anything else (which means look for a UK/EU withdrawal agreement circa 2048) finally clearing the way for a UK/Ireland free trade agreement, but all of this could have stopped had De Valera spoken ....but his silence ironically provided the cover for the modernization of Ireland and they death of the Ireland he promoted.

I hope when Johnson's time comes he does the same for the UK.

Perhaps Boris Johnson will. I only knew Eamon De Valera was an important political figure in Ireland. And that he survived the Easter Uprising.

But didnt know he was so important in creating modern Ireland. Which you described well. He is an interesting character.

And Didnt go to Eton. LoL
Actually theres no way he would have been admittied fo Eton. Being such a devoted Irish nationalist. (Is that the right description)
He would have been considered back then, the college's number one public enemy.
Well if Boris is the next PM i guess a long look at his past choices in politics will give the UK an idea of what their future holds.

Oh and the part of Irish history you use as a comparison to the UK's current situation is perfect. Cause cleary theyve been thru this sh..t before.

Louis - thank you for sharing this. I didn't know any of this and none of this is taught in America, at least not where I live. America is huge so who knows.

Chicks opinion, prior to Cameron and potentially Boris, we had Blair and Brown. Neither went to Eton. Blair studied at Fettes which is private school. And one of the first things Blair did was to introduce tuition fees for university. And Theresa May went to grammar school.

Yeah. Clearly true.
But the U.K has a long history of Eton Rifles walking into very powerful influential positions ...through their association with Eton.

Its the 'old boy' system. Is this fair?

Theres proof Princeton is the same system in the U.S.

This is why the 'moneyed' bust their arses to get their kids into Eton College in the UK.

Examples of influential former students are,
Airey Neave, politican
John Maynard Keynes, highly influential UK Economist.
George Cadbury (goes without saying)
Arthur Balfour
Nathanial Rothschild
George Orwell
Julian Huxley
Even Bear Grylls

The list is endless.
Of people who went to Eton influencing/controlling the world.
Sometimes in a good way.

A huge proportion of the English aristocracy go to Eton. Its a known fact.
If they can afford it.

Rory Stewart, sure contender for leadership of the British Conversative Party.
Possibly could be Prime Minister one day.
Quite easily.

And one guess where he was educated folks.
You guessed it. Eton College.

Chicks - I agree with you re the Old Boys Club. There is definite network link between prominent business people in the City and Eton. It doesn’t seem fair at all.
