So many public sector workers striking already, rail, post office, barristers, refuse collectors etc etc. Some already can't pay their bills despite working full time. Interest rates up, inflation up, fuel up, utilities up. Heaven help us come October when the cap rises.
Riots - I wouldn't be at all surprised. FFS what the hell is this government doing?? Waiting for new PM? ie FA
To date, the U.S. has provided about $11 Billion in military aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the Biden administration.
When is the U.S. going to stop fighting other people's wars? The Afghanistan war cost the Americans trillions of dollars. And for what? What good did it do?
Now Biden is talking about forgiving student loans. WTF.
I hope the employed Americans like working, because they are going to be paying for ALL this for a long, long, long time.
No wonder people want Trump back. But as we all know that would be crazy and only a temporary fix. All over the planet, world leaders are destroying democracy and freedom. We are no longer safe from the destructive effects of dictatorship.
God help us all.
Absolutely agree. Some great minds must come up with a way forward before peoples fear turns to anger.
On Wednesday, President Biden announced he will cancel up to $10,000 (£8,500) in federal student loans used to fund higher education costs such as tuition and housing for millions of Americans who earn less than $125,000 each year.
President Biden will also forgive $20,000 of debt for students on Pell Grants, which applies to those in greatest financial need.
So it looks like it's a smaller portion being forgiven, not the whole steak.
If anyone should be "offended" about this loan forgiveness, it should be YOU, Lovely Libra.
Look, no matter what amount is forgiven, the bottom line is WE ALL END UP PAYING FOR IT anyway. So for those especially that earn a higher income, they will be taxed accordingly to pay for ALL those things and freebies that people don't. No wonder some rich members of Congress voted against it. They pay more taxes today than ever before.
I personally would never give a homeless person money because they will blow it on drugs and or alcohol. In my city, homeless people are provided for, they have access to three hot meals daily, clean clothes, medicine, a hot shower, and cot to rest, etc.
In my opinion, this is where the extra monies should be going - to help the less fortunate. Not to some able-bodied students who choose to get a higher education and then don't want to (or claim they can't) pay their loans.
