Has quit the show.
Why?
Well his 
"Character" 
was about to develop 
"Gay" 
story lines.
This won't do his career any good..

Yeah, I heard about that. He should have had something in his contract. Too bad they could not come to a compromise (portray a gay character but have no sex scenes).

CD -- Is his career really over just because he chose not to play a gay man? That seems pretty severe. Maybe he just isn't a very good actor?

I've seen other actors (on soaps) blow good gigs for this reason. It's really stupid because they get the reputation of being difficult and no one wants to work with them after that. It's also stupid for the reason that they are ...actors. The point is to act. Just dumb. No, T.W. they cannot put something in a contract stating they will not play "gay". Serials do what they want with the actors and they are expected to act professionally and roll with the punches, so to speak.

This doesn't make any sense.From day one True Blood has been about all sorts of make believe monsters having sex with just about everything and everyone. Often covered in blood. Great training for any actor!
This guy would have been lucky to have a story line with Lafayette. Nelsan Ellis is a very talented actor.

If you can put no kissing in your contract you can put anything else in it. There are people that play gay but they may never have a sex scene. Some have quick kisses at the most. Everything is negotiable.

Considering the show, I doubt he has religious reasons. I have not seen the show so for all I know he had no nudity or sex scenes at all. From what little I read he felt forced to portray a homosexual man.

Maybe he is just not comfortable doing this. Maybe he feels he won't be able to do the character justice. Maybe he has unresolved issues. Maybe he is in the closet. I don't know. These are just thoughts.

According to the article I saw he was uncomfortable with same sex kissing and sex scenes. The article alluded he should have seen this coming because the show has heavy LGBT undertones.

If the man is a good actor I am sorry he lost his job. The way Christian wrote this post makes me think there is more to the story, perhaps the actor is in the closet and is afraid.
