Because while this plays out. The operations by the U.S led International Coalition.... fighting Islamic State, are at a standstill.
NATO is part of this coalition too.
Anything that allows Islamic State to get strong again in the region. Is undesirable.
All the work to undermine and eradicate them may go to waste.
And without doubt...Islamic State will be estatic about the hostilities that have started with iran, Iraq and the West.
