Peter Falconio was originally from Huddersfield. Your neck of the woods in Yorkshire, in the UK. And so was his girlfriend who survived the attack, Joanne Lees.
It's in the paper today, because a UK Channel 4 documentary has cast very compelling doubt on the guilt of the Australian man, Bradley Murdoch. Who was jailed years ago for the murder... but professes his innocence today.
The Channel 4 documentary revealed something that wasn't revealed in the Australian trial. That the truck driver who rescued Joanne Lees, actually saw and stopped and spoke to 3 men... by a car. 3 kilometres before he saw Joanne Lees on the road. And 1 of the 3 men he saw was being bungled into that red car.
The murder victim, Peter Falconio... still has friends in Huddersfield willing to talk.
They claim Peter Falconio was capable of faking his own death.
And had done insurance fraud before.
The idea that he planned his own faked murder on such a remote highway near Barrow Creek in the Northern Territory of Australia.
Is a remote possibility me too.
But what isn't remote to me.
Is that, that movie Wolf Creek. Is not far from my negative veiw of travelling in outback Australia. In fact a few years ago a camper abducted 2 backpacker girls. Who escaped and survived.
One was attacked with a hammer.
Places you won't find me.
