Thank you for posting this. I can't stand people like him. People who preach in the name of God for profit. Since when does salvation or saving someone's soul cost money? It smells like the Catholic Church all over again; when people had to tithe to save their souls. Joel Ostern needs to remember those are Jesus' doors not his.

Waiting for the truth to come out about this guy and his blonde wifey.... He does seem to preach a good word, but does he really need all the expensive airplanes, fancy homes, trips, etc..... Also there are others in fellowship ship- their preacher ron something is very similar with his botox face and fancy shoes and pants/jeans....

I am Catholic and we don't use tithe. I believe it is used by other churches, such as the Pentecostals. (I have friends who are pentecostal preachers and they use that). These prosperity preachers are only about money. If you want to preach the Lord's word, great! But don't bring money into it.

maybe they are just passing on the lies they have been told and fallen for.

This might be my favorite post this month. This guy is a total sham and spent more time justifying his lack of action for Houston than he did doing anything....and the 'prayer service' he held for hurricane victims included passing around a donation tray...

Quintas 67: my apologies I should have clarified my comment. Back in the 1500's the Catholic Church made their members tithe for many reasons one of them being for salvation. I was comparing it to that time.

Cecilia Bryant: It's ok. I am not offended. You are right. There was alot of corruption in the Catholic Church through out its history. It is one of the reasons that the Protestant Reformation occurred. I consider myself Catholic but I have studied other faiths and beliefs. I respect all religions and have incorporated my new knowledge into my beliefs. I also love checking this blog every day to see your comments along with CD's predictions.

I have been waiting for this post. God will not be mocked. Joel has said on television he is not a preacher, he is a motivational speaker. This man is not a Christian. He has said on Oprah Winfrey and on Larry King Live that there is more than one way to get to God. Neither Judaism, Christianity, nor Islam teach this. The sheeple who attend his church, pardon me, motivational center have been duped. Victoria Osteen is no better. She said we are not to do good because we love God, we are to do good for ourselves. This is on YouTube. What holy book is she reading? We do good because we love God AND because it is the right thing to do.

The prediction implies a personal bankruptcy. I would rather see the motivational center keep money and become an actual church with an actual pastoral team put in place by the Lord Almighty.

Hi Molly! I thought about what you said. Lakewood Church has been around since 1959. Hurricanes, snow storms, and tornadoes are not unheard of in Texas. The Church should have had a plan in place, especially since it has thousands of members and takes in millions of dollars. It is possible the church wanted to make sure the building was safe before it opened its doors. Perhaps he thought the city would be under mandatory evacuation orders.

I have seen Joel's sermons, pardon me, his motivational speeches. I saw his wife say we should not do good things for God (it's on YouTube). I would be surprised a plan existed.
