It seems to be a normal occurrence with powerful men to have sex on the side or in some cases, abusive to women.
I wonder what the future will bring with all these women rising into former predominant powerful male positions. Are women going to become like men?

That is not to say that sexual abuse did not occur back then -- it most certainly did and the bulk of the abuse was towards black women. Who were they going to tell? Yeah, right...
I disagree with your opinion. Men and Women did not respect each other more during the 1950s. Society was more polite towards white people and it was okay to disrespect people of color. If a white woman wanted to get back at someone, all she had to do is ACCUSE a black man of looking at her the wrong way. I kid you not.
Black women have been working in America since we were enslaved and brought here. We had to tend to white people's children and households at the expense of our own. Put your family first and you would be out of a job. White women had to protest to get the right to work and not be forced to stay home and keep house. Well, they got all the problems associated with working with white men, mainly low pay and harassment. Don't believe me? Ask black women who were alive at the time. They will gladly tell you about it. But then again, why believe the people who actually experienced it when you can believe a history book written by someone who wasn't there?
