Christian, can you give us insight into YouTube/Google's actions against certain types of channels? Some of the channels have nothing to do with conspiracy theories.
1. Channels are having comments disabled for some videos. YouTube claims it is protecting children. I can tell you, the videos I saw had nothing to do with Momo Challenge, nudity, violence, nudity, or profanity. The channels I am concerned about are not even promoted to children.
2. Some channels have no history of violating community guidelines, yet YouTube is preventing them from making money from videos for 30 days. YouTube did not give any explanation and did not advise the channel owner(s) how to prevent future problems.
3. I see a lot of channels with Christian content are having troubles. I cannot speak on other religious channels.
4. Comedians are being targeted .
5. I agree some conspiracy channels are misinformation channels. There are some that are well researched and there are some for entertainment only. The latter two are being targeted.
Why should anyone complain about being denied the “right” to comment? There is no right to free speech on a corporate website. They own it, they decide who gets to comment and who doesn’t get to comment. Just like this site is moderated, and some comments are booted and never show up.
Commenting on websites may cost money someday. It would be a great source of income for everyone with a comment-enabled site. Would make billions of dollars for youtube, facebook, reddit and twitter. Sending a letter costs money for paper, pen, and a stamp. Don’t be surprised when it costs money to hit “publish your comment”.
Signing off as “anonymous” while I still can....
In Christian's defense, I will say:
1. A few years ago, published comments disappeared for no discernible reason.
2. Sometimes the same comment will appear several times.
3. Some people have had their screen names hijacked. Someone else will have another person's exact screen name and icon/avi. People will think the real T.W. or whomever made the comment. This happened to me on YouTube.
4. Other websites that use Blogger platform for commenting have been having problems. For example:
a. Some sights will not let you sign in on mobile but you can sign in using a desktop or laptop computer.
b. CAPTCHA crashes.
