In the American Embassy in Riyadh SA.
It was on display in the Embassy.
But was getting too much attention.
So Trump had it put away.

Well. Lets look at who they are. Trump, King Salman of Saudi Arabia, and Abdel Fattah el-Sissi of Egypt.
And this hands around a science fictional version of the campfire. Was the announcement of the Centre For Global Combating Of Extremist Ideology. In Riyadh.
It's called Etidal, in Saudi Arabia.
The globe was supposed to represent the world's waters in grey and continents in black. Not really anything else.
It announced the opening of this 'control center, using artificial intelligence to track....in real time, new reports and online stayements of Islamic extremists'
'The new center.... representing a clear declaration that muslim-majority countries must take a lead in combating radicalization'
The intention of this globe camp fire meeting... was clear. A pledge by all the countries. To counteract terrorism in a more complex way.
The thing is. When Trump came to power he inherited a military campaign against Islamic State and Al Qaeda in the Middle East. Who were dominating unfortunately at that time..
And to some degree in Syria.
At that time, Trump had to rely on Obama's counterterrorism strategy. And working with Obama's chosen partners in the region.
Dealing with all this counterterrorism in this way...was a relatively new field.
Even after all these efforts.
And even since the George W Bush days.
Have alot of the efforts since 2017 been abandoned by Trump?
Because there's been very little progress of political reform or stability in the Middle East.
Has this Global Centre for Combating Extremist Ideology not achieved much more than Obama did?
Since then Trump has introduced a U.S Travel ban of 7 Muslim majority countries.
Has that pissed off the countries who took part to develop this Centre in Riyadh 2017?
Maybe. But he has chosen many of them...as partner countries in the region.
Perhaps Trump's recent conflicts with Iran and Iraq are the reason for the glowing orb being put in the closet.
Overall. Trump's approach to combating terrorism has been very mixed.
In 2018 The U.S Countering Violent Extremism Task Force govenment Program (CVE) was left intact after the U.S budget.
As we know...Trump got rid of alot of other departments. That were not cost effective. But whether the 60 million earmarked for the U.S Countering Violent Extremism Task Force was actually approved. Is unknown.
But the U.S Global Engagement Centre exists today...coordinating U.S counterterrorism messaging for foreign audiences. Colaborating with foreign governments and non governmental orgs. To counter violent ideology abroad.
It leads, directs and exposes foreign state and non state propaganda.
And disinformation.
And it's very connected with counterterrorism orgs in Geneva, Switzerland and other countries.
So I guess there are many reasons why Trump has decided to put the the glowing Orb in the closet.
I'd say it's the recent problems with the Middle East that's angered him.
The U.S is working to counteract Terrorism. And Middle Eastern countries have been allowing extremists to thrive.
That Iranian General, Qasem Soleimani. Was a real danger to the U.S. That's a certain.
So basically, the U.S is trying to eradicate extremists like Soleimani. And Iran is actively promoting them in a state sanctioned way.
But here's the thing, the Saudi Arabian's hate Iran too.
Mmmmmm. It's a can of worms. When you look at the U.S relationship with the Middle East.
It's in the news today that yet another of the President of United Arab Emirates, Sheik Mohammed Maktoum's 14 daughters

The last one's were, Latifa and Shamsa, to try and get asylum in the UK.
Shamsa was abducted off the street in Cambridge in the UK. By her father's cronies. Flew by helicopter to France. And then taken back to UAE. And she hasn't been seen since.
The latest daughter...in the Daily Mail today, is Jalila.
In fact her mother, Princess Haya, fled to the UK recently. With her 2 youngest daughters, including Jalila
And has applied for a 'Protection From forced Marriage Order' in the UK. For Jalila. And got it.
What I want know is.
Will Amnesty International or new laws stop this shocking oppression of women in Saudi Arabia?

The Middle Eastern contingent touching the ball hadn't heard about Jared's Middle Eastern Peace Plan at that stage I don't think.
He hadn't dreamed it up yet.
But when he did. They thought it was a joke.
The Saudis and The Egyptian men would have been laughing their arses off about how Jared is led around by a woman...Ivanka.
And when her family end up landing Jared in a U.S jail. They'll laugh even harder.
Ivanka and Jared's 'Third-Wave Feminist' style marriage isn't Middle Eastern men's cup of tea either.
Where King Salman comes from, in Saudi Arabia, women are considered permanent legal minors from cradle to grave.
Saudi Arabian women are not free and cannot apply for a passport. Without a male guardian's approval.
They can't even leave home without his approval either.
They finally crimimalised Domestic Violence in Saudi Arabia in 2013.
But failed to implement the law.
On the bright side. Jared can call the cops in the U.S if Ivanka starts bashing him into submission at home.
But here's the facts. On Jared's Middle East Peace Plan.
Let's be clear for a start...the Palistinians have have cut ties with the U.S and Israel. Over this Peace Plan.
In fact, according to Jared, he doesn't think they've even read it.
Further fact... the Arab League has told the Israelis...all talk is off. And no security communication with the Trump Administration is currently operating.
That's a great acheivement hey? Towards peace.
And Ben Netanyau thinks Jared's Peace Plan is just fantastic.
Anything the Israelis think is fantastic will sink faster than a wet falafel with the Palestinians.
Basically Jared's Peace Plan calls for a de-militarized Palestinian State. That would exclude Jewish settlements in occupied territory. And remain under almost complete Israeli security control.
This is beyond ridiculous. In it's naivety. As if the Palestinians are gonna go for that?
Not in a million years.
Or how about 60 years of Nakba.
Plus. The dickhead who's tryin to force the Palestinians to accept this Peace Plan. Is Jewish. Jared Kushner is famously Jewish!!!

And as a sweetner, Jared has offered in the Peace Plan, economic assistance to the Palastinians if they play ball.
But only if they acheive the Statehood he wants.
I'm all for the conflict between Palastine and Israel to end. Asap.
But seriously. Something remotely fair and reasonable needs to go on the table. Or mat.
Overwise, the Palestinians will stay home.
And eat their falafels.
