Here come the Reforms in U.S policing.
The Reforms many have been trying to get into law in the U.S for decades. Reforms, Al Sharpton called for at the George Floyd Memorial the other day.
I do find it very moving to listen to Al Sharpton.
Alot of cops in the U.S right now I think. Who have been very heavy handed when arresting or communicating with the public or just shooting them.
Will be wondering in these weeks.
Is it safe for me to go on this way?
Should I continue this way towards African Americans?
Will I get acquitted in future if I murder an African American? Or just witness my co workers do it?

There's been alot of comparison at the moment. With what was happening in the Civil Rights movement in 1968 many years ago.
I agree. To a point.
But yesterday I listened to the wise comments of a much older African American lady who participated in the Civil rights movement heavily in 1968.
She made the following comnents in an interview,
'Back then, the media was a static medium. People found out about ALOT less. And in a slower way. Today, events, information goes around the world to people in seconds.
Also in back then. We had a competent President in charge. President Lyndon B Johnson was many things. But he wasn't incompetent like Trump.
We also didn't have a Pandemic going on at the same time.
And we were still in shock from from some major assassinations of leaders in the Civil Rights movement'
Well like then, there's gonna be alot of new Anti Racism or policial leaders/activists emerge from this current Civil Unrest.
They are born in these situations.
Interesting observation about the insurance on shops. With looting.
Yeah, I’m tired of people saying, “Well, they have insurance. They’ll still make money.”
That’s not how insurance works. Insurance makes you whole. With the exception of a few items, insurance does not pay out replacement value or retail value. It pays you what the item is worth at the time. And since most items depreciate in value, the victim still loses.
Some businesses do not recover despite being reimbursed. If they stay in business their insurance premiums will go up & the company will likely write a new policy refusing to pay out in the future for riots, looting, civil unrest, & pandemics.
Most importantly, people looking to start a business will avoid areas that have experienced looting & such because they can’t afford the costs of insurance and security. No one wins.
You are blessed you can talk with people who lived during the Civil Rights Movement. My mom was a child at the time. My dearly departed dad was in his 40’s. He would talk about it but I don’t remember much. Let’s just say don’t believe everything you read in the history books.

Oscar voters surprisingly didn't show much love for Selma in 2015, and Ava DuVernay and David Oyelowo have an idea of what might have held it back.
Oyelowo, who starred as Martin Luther King Jr. in DuVernay's critically-acclaimed film, in an interview this week described how after DuVernay and the Selma cast wore "I can't breathe" shirts in support of Eric Garner at the movie's premiere, the studio received complaints from Academy voters who pledged they wouldn't support it at the awards.
"I remember at the premiere of Selma us wearing 'I Can't Breathe' T-shirts in protest," Oyelowo told Screen International. "Members of the Academy called in to the studio and our producers saying, 'How dare they do that? Why are they stirring sh-t'? and 'We are not going to vote for that film because we do not think it is their place to be doing that.'"
Oyelowo added that the protest is "part of why that film didn't get everything that people think it should've got and it birthed #OscarsSoWhite." DuVernay backed up Oyelowo's account on Twitter, writing, "True story."
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences responded to the story by tweeting, "Ava & David, we hear you. Unacceptable. We're committed to progress."
Though Selma was nominated for Best Picture in 2015, its only other nomination was Best Original Song, an award it went on to win. Oyelowo unexpectedly didn't get a Best Actor nod, nor did DuVernay get nominated for Best Director. The Academy has long faced criticism over the lack of diversity of its nominees, especially the year Oyelowo was snubbed, when no actors of color were nominated at all.

Australia's relationship with China continues in a free-fall.
Alot of it is about how unprepared Australians are now, to buy Chinese made goods and materials.
And want things like aluminum etc to be made here.
Instead of importing it from China.
The movement against Chinese goods is getting stronger.
But Australia is part of the Paris Agreement.
So we can't pollute like China does.
With Aluminum Smelters. And Carbon nightmare industries.
So how we are going to 'make our own materials' in Australia again, in alot of cases, puzzles me.
Unless we get out of The Paris Agreement on Carbon footprint reduction.
But I think it's more also about Australia getting it's respect back.
We allowed our very well built up Australian companies to go broke.
By choosing to buy 'chinese made' stuff that was either far cheaper. Or slightly cheaper.
And often of inferior quality.
For me. It's a matter of principal.
I will not support the slave labour working conditions in China, by buying it.
It's just wrong.
Anyone who's watched a documentary on how mistreated and woefully underpaid the average Chinese worker is. Will know what I mean.
I am concerned too though. That China continues to partner with Australia on many international things.
We need them to.
And they need Australia.
Particularly in assisting in controlling East Asia 'pirates' in the shipping lanes there.
They are very dangerous Pirates.
And even sink boats as part of a deal they strike with the owners of ships. Or crews.
To do insurance fraud to get a new ship. Or fishing trawler.
But when the Pirates want what's on ships, they take the ship's crew hostage with machetes.
And what they steal onboard. Already has a buyer.
Who has paid the Pirates to do the pirateing.
It's Pirate theft to order.
China has had a huge problem with Somali Pirates in the Gulf Of Aden too. Attacking their ships passing through.
In about 2008 the Chinese moved 3 war ships into the Gulf Of Aden.
To defend their merchant ships.
These days 'Combined Taskforce 150' protects the Gulf Of Aden (and Horn Of Africa). From Somali pirates. It is a 33 nation Naval task force. That is based in Bahrain.
Something had to be done about Somali pirates. As the the Somali government did nothing about them.
And still doesn't.
The interesting thing is. China has its own share of 'Chinese' pirates. They operate close to the Yellow Sea Ports
But oddly. China itself does not have a domestic law on Piracy.
So cannot prosecute.
Not sayin they don't arrest them. They do.

The Chinese Pirates even try to steal during cargo operations. Very brazen.

Where they don't have sudden inexplicable Pandemic outbreaks.
Which completely stop or interfere with export and manufacturing systems.
Yes. We are in for big changes.
But China I feel is the one who will experience the most change.
In office. :/ . I know mayor is protective of protestors, so that calms me a little.
But even in broad daylight, they get onto the bridge of a moving ship passing through there. Take the crew hostage at gun point or with machetes. Lock them up. And disable the communications.
The Pirates are then able to siphon fuel onto another ship if they want.
In 2014, they stole $1.9 million in fuel. Off the Thai ship, the Orapin 4.
By 2014, 136 seamen were murdered by East Asia pirates. And many more since.

I don't know anyone from the Civil Rights movement. I listened to a long interview of an American lady. Who participated in the Civil Rights movement. It was soooo interesting.
She was such a lady. And so wise. I listened to it in my car. On my lunch break. And was nearly late gettin back to work because of it. Radio here often has American news programs on. They are good.
Very interesting.
And well researched.
Well I guess at least the movie, Selma.... birthed the #Oscarsowhite movement.
But there's no doubt. They killed that Selma movie for awards on purpose. Because it's success would have started so much more conversation and trend towards black movies. And black actors.
Hollywood have been getting away with so much. For so long.
And you know, white actors in the 50's were pressured to never get suntans.
Ever.
Because they wanted the actors to appear as white as possible.
How crazy is that?
Rita Hayworth, who was half Mexican half Spanish...I don't know how she succeeded in Hollywood back then. She appears to have very white skin in the old pics.
Hollywood may claim that audiences don't want to see black actors or 'black movies'.
My argument is. How can we as white audiences make that choice? When they rarely release any.
Or put any money behind them.

I'll watch any movie. If it's a good subject.

He did this with that movie, Twelve Years A Slave.
Based on a true story. About the slave, Solomon Northup. Who was abducted as free man and sold into slavery.
Steve McQueen (not the white Hollywood actor, a black director) directed it.
But Brad Pitt produced it.
And made sure Black actor, Chiwetel Ejiofor starred in it. At top billing.
Brad Pitt was in it.
But only wanted a minor role.
He wanted Ejiofor to be the focus.
Which is right for the movie of course.
But I feel strongly Brad Pitt and Steve McQueen wanted to launch the Hollywood career of Ejiofor.
Lupita Nyong'o was in it too.
John Ridley IV was the one who wrote the screenplay. Also a black man.
But Brad Pitt's Production Company, Plan B backed the project for the movie.
And got financing for it.
Otherwise I believe it would have never been made.
The movie won Oscars.
I would say, the book (memoir), this movie is based on, Twelve Years A Slave ....would be a very good but moving book.
I have a memoir of a slave girl book. I bought off Amazon. I didn't finish because it was far too upsetting, distressing. The scenes in it.
But Twelve Years A Slave is upsetting in the same vein. But it is uplifting at the end.
Great movie.
What you can handle reading is very individual.
Or how you are at that time in your life.
Brad Pitt did this because he had no choice.
There’s also A Prince Among Slaves. You can purchase the book & dvd documentary. A lot of the slaves were members of royalty.
