I've noticed people love naughty nuns and vicars stories.
Especially the English.
Well. I find it amusing too.
To a lesser degree.
Because unfortunately I can only see the dark side of the Catholic Church. Based on what know.
There's one way of looking at the Catholic Church's predicament here with these pregnant Nuns.
A Karmic viewpoint.
The Catholic Church in Ireland, as an example, has a shocking record of abuse to young pregnant unmarried women. 100's of years of it.
Not to mention the hundreds of children from varying backgrounds who were sent to so called Catholic run 'industrial school's' to live. With Irish State approval.
They never saw their parents again.
Yes. All these Irish children. Of many decades.
Who were the victims of the Catholic Church becoming a key institutional presence in education.
Health and welfare. Through these industrial schools in Ireland. Were defenceless victims.
And the fact that the Irish government loved the Catholic Church getting control of these institutions
Cause the Church paid for it. And it gave the Catholic Church the freedom to do what they liked.
Unfortunately those who found themselves in Catholic institutions in those many decades, were mostly abused by Nuns. And Priests. Physically and mentally.
They were not even allowed toothpaste.
But more specifically I refer to the Irish Magdalene Laundries (so called Mother and baby homes)
Where the Catholic Church took in pregnant unmarried teens or girls in their 20's. On the deceiving pretext that they would care for them.
No they didn't.
They imprisoned these young girls, forced them into hard Labour working for free in their laundries.
And when their baby was born, the Nuns stole it. And sold it without consent or knowledge of the young mother.
If they didn't sell the baby for profit. They put the baby in an orphanage. Also run by the Catholic Church.
In these orphanages, the children were given barely any food. And were physically and mentally abused by nuns, and pedophiles within the Catholic Church.
And the worst thing. Alot of the teenage girls could not escape the imprisonment in the Magdalene Laundries.
Which was the Catholic Church's goal.
Because the Catholic Church wanted them for forced Labour.
For the the rest of their lives.
Many never left.
Some escaped because their brothers or father came to rescue them from the Laundries.
They also sent them out for free Labour for a day on local farms. Another money making racket by the Nuns.
These Irish young people lived in fear also, of what was called 'the Cruelty Man. They worked for Society for The Prevention Of Cruelty To Children.
In fact, these men often raped the female prisoners of Magdalene Laundries and Industrial Schools
Irish singer, Sinead O'Connor ended up in a Magadalene Laundry. But she claims the forced Laundry work had been stopped by then. By the 1980's.
There is a movie all about the Magadelene Laundries It's called The Magdalene Sisters.
It's very good. And has actor, James McEvoy' s wife in it. Anne-marie Duff.
No. There isn't any instance, where I can see any predicament the Catholic Church finds itself in.
As worthy of my empathy.
They didn't have any empathy for anyone else.
